STAN GRANT NARRATES TAKE HEART
In another leap forward for the Take Heart project, acclaimed Indigenous Australian journalist and anchor Mr Stan Grant recorded the narration for a film that aims to change the way the majority of Australians and New Zealanders currently think about Indigenous Australian, Māori and Pacific Islander health.
“Today, Australia boasts the world’s 12th largest economy, the 5th highest per capita income, and the 2nd highest human development index ranking – which means it’s considered to be amongst the world’s most “equal” societies. Why then, do Australia’s first people have amongst the highest rates of a preventable disease in the world?”
Over 30 pages of narration were recorded in a remarkable marathon session in Sydney. The session ended with Mr Grant recounting a personal statement on camera about how undiagnosed heart disease took the male elders in his family in the prime of their lives.
